Research Themes:  The Communicating Mind and Body

Dr. Stefka Marinova-Todd is an Associate Professor at the School of Audiology & Speech Sciences.  Her main research focus is on bilingual language development and second language acquisition.  Currently, she is involved in several national and international collaborative projects that examine the language and literacy development of children who are bilingual from birth or are learning English or French as an additional language.  Stefka is also an expert on the language and cognitive development of bilingual children, both typically-developing and children with autism, and her current research shows that bilingual children with autism are not different from monolingual children with autism. 

Research Interests

Bilingual language development and second language acquisition; the language and literacy development of children who are bilingual from birth or are learning English or French as an additional language; the language and cognitive development of bilingual children, both typically-developing and children with autism.
