Research Themes:  Evolving Language in an Information Economy, Language, Sustainability and Transnationalism

Wei-Rui Chen is a PhD student at the Department of Linguistics at University of British Columbia with his research focusing on natural language processing. His ultimate goal is having computer to learn, understand and produce languages by incorporating both computational and linguistic methods. He is a member of UBC Deep Learning and NLP Lab. Before joining UBC, he was a machine learning engineer at Trend Micro, developing anomaly detection systems deployed worldwide.
