Ryosuke Aoyama is a PhD student in the department of Language and Literacy Education (TESL) at the University of British Columbia. His experiences as an English teacher in Japanese public high schools shape and inform his research interests, which include pluralist approaches to English education (World Englishes, Teaching English as an International Language, English as a Lingua Franca, Global Englishes, Translanguaging, etc.), language teacher identity, teacher education, and language ideology.
