Research Themes:  The Communicating Mind and Body

Anja is currently a postdoctoral fellow at the School of Music.

Her project investigates the effect of opera training on neuropsychological performance and brain anatomy as part of the Peter Wall Opera Project. A particular focus of this project lies in the language training opera students receive as part of their curriculum. She is co-supervised by Dr. Janet Werker, Dr. Lara Boyd, Dr. Rachel Weber, and Prof. Nancy Hermiston.

Anja completed schooling in Germany at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum and in Canada at Queen's University. Past projects investigated learning of new musical systems, the effects of extracurricular music activities on children's development, and music-evoked memories in older adults.

Broadly, she is interested in learning of and learning through music.
