Research Themes:

The Communicating Mind and Body

I have a "lay person" interest in language (not a language scientist) but I have spent a lot of time observing how people think, as part of my teaching mathematics over the last 20 years. In particular, I am very interested in two directions:

  1. The ways language shapes our thoughts
  2. The ways one's native language interacts with learning mathematical proof, and can we use some techniques used in teaching foreign languages to teach the "Introduction to proof" course?

I would be interested in a collaboration with someone specializing in language studies and/or psychology (have some ideas for projects).
