Research Themes: Evolving Language in an Information Economy
Melanie is an applied linguist and also a former K-12 educator. She is passionate about teacher education. Her research interests include K-12 students, ELLs, and technology-enhanced classrooms.
Melanie has extensive experience teaching in a K-12 context including as an elementary teacher, technology teacher, Alberta Initiative for School Improvement (AISI) Learning Leader, English Language Learner (ELL) Learning Leader, and most recently a system ELL Strategist for the Calgary public school district. She loves mentoring teachers and being a part of their journey into the profession. She is also passionate about connecting research with practice.
