Research Themes: Language, Sustainability and Transnationalism
Meghan Corella is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Language and Literacy Education at UBC. Her research has focused on how relations of power are reinforced and reconfigured through linguistic interactions, with a particular focus on young children from linguistically, racially, and culturally minoritized groups. She specializes in discourse analysis, sociocultural linguistics, and classroom ethnography.
Research Interests
Academic language and literacies; multimodality and multiliteracies; second/foreign language assessment, teaching, and learning; language ideologies; sociocultural reconceptualizations of language competence; language and literacy learning in early childhood; and qualitative research methods (especially ethnographic approaches to discourse analysis).
