Research Themes:  Evolving Language in an Information Economy

I am an Associate Professor at the UBC iSchool and have served as Director since 2015.

I hold a PhD from the Faculty of Information at the University of Toronto, an MLS degree from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, an MA (Russian history) from Carleton University, and a BA from the University of Toronto.

I teach courses on information retrieval, information services and open data. My research is primarily focused on the human-centred aspect of information retrieval and the ways in which people interact with and make sense of digital information.
