I have a "lay person" interest in language (not a language scientist) but I have spent a lot of time observing how people think, as part of my teaching mathematics over the last 20 years. In particular, I am very interested in two directions:
- The ways language shapes our thoughts
- The ways one's native language interacts with learning mathematical proof, and can we use some techniques used in teaching foreign languages to teach the "Introduction to proof" course?
I would be interested in a collaboration with someone specializing in language studies and/or psychology (have some ideas for projects).
