Research Themes:  The Communicating Mind and Body

Dr. Sorenson Duncan’s research focuses on children who are at risk for academic difficulty. Notably, children may be at risk for academic difficulty for many reasons.

In her work, Dr. Sorenson Duncan concentrates on two populations of learners: those from immigrant and refugee backgrounds and those with special education needs (e.g., developmental language disorder, autism spectrum disorder). By investigating development in these highly variable contexts, Dr. Sorenson Duncan’s work seeks to uncover the factors that support successful language and literacy development.
