Lynne Williams
Staff Scientist
Research Themes: The Communicating Mind and Body
Lynne J Williams’ work on language sciences-related areas at UBC goes back to her days as an undergraduate. She is currently Staff Scientist at the BC Children's Hospital MRI Research Facility, where she describes her research this way:
"I investigate the factors that put children at risk for speech and language disorders. I seek to characterize how changes in the neural wiring for language change the language profiles for children at risk. I study how risk factors influence this language wiring diagram, or connectome, and how changes to the language connectome are related to individual language outcomes. Current studies also examine how altering the language connectome changes speech and language profiles."
Research Interests:
Examining the risk factors children have for acquiring language disorders and how modifying the neural network underlying language changes language proficiency.
