Dr. Laurel Fais
Research Themes: The Communicating Mind and Body
Laurel Fais (Ph.D., Linguistics, Indiana University) was a sessional with the Department of Psychology and the Cognitive Systems Program at the University of British Columbia.
She conducted research on the effects of social interaction on infant language acquisition and on the optical flow measurement of the movement of infants engaged in language studies at Janet Werker’s Infant Studies Centre at UBC. In addition, she analyzed conversational pragmatics and language use in multimodal interfaces in machine translation (NTT and ATR, Japan), and the written language skills of adolescent dyslexics (The Forman School, CT, USA).
She is now retired and living in North Carolina, USA.
