Dr. Irene de la Cruz-Pavía
Postdoctoral Fellow
Research Themes: The Communicating Mind and Body
Irene de la Cruz-Pavía obtained her International PhD in Linguistics at the University of the Basque Country (Spain).
As a Marie Curie post-doctoral fellow, Dr. de la Cruz-Pavía conducted a two-year stay at Dr. Janet Werker’s Infant Studies Centre (Department of Psychology, UBC).
She is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the Integrative Neuroscience and Cognition Center (CNRS-Université Paris Descartes), working with Dr. Judit Gervain and Dr. Thierry Nazzi.
Dr. de la Cruz-Pavía is interested in understanding the cognitive mechanisms involved in the acquisition and processing of syntax. Specifically, she examines the role and interplay of multiple sources of information in speech processing, and focuses particularly on the role of facial gestures as an aid for auditory prosody in speech segmentation and in bootstrapping syntactic development.
