Research Themes: The Communicating Mind and Body
I am Assistant Professor in the Psychology School at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. My main research interests are in language, dialogue, cognition and pragmatics. During dialogue, to reach mutual comprehension we must go beyond the conventional meaning of the words and integrate information about our interlocutors' identity, goals, shared knowledge and the expectations we have about their communicative behavior. How can we integrate all these information under the time constraints of an everyday conversation? By taking dialogue into the lab, my research attempts to understand the cognitive underpinnings of mutual comprehension when using language to communicate.
