Expectations

The focus group is expected to convene a series of group meetings to brainstorm cross-disciplinary professional development and skills training at UBC

What

Once-monthly, student/postdoc-led brainstorming meetings, skill-sharing workshops, and flash-talks, either virtual, in-person, or hybrid. 

Term

October 2023 - April 2024

Goals
  • Create bridges between departments and disciplines with shared interests and overlaps in research
  • Develop interdisciplinary professional development programming tailored to language-related research
  • Provide feedback to Language Sciences on its opportunities for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows
