The LangDev Lab (www.sfu.ca/langdev) is in Linguistics and Cognitive Science at SFU (PI: Dr. Henny Yeung), and current projects investigate infant and child bi/multilingual development, child language acquisition in Indigenous contexts, and cross-cultural comparisons of infant language acquisition.  The preferred start date is June 2023, but is flexible to start within Summer 2023. Applicants must be eligible to work in Canada. This position is envisaged to be full-time (35 hours per week), but is flexible for the right candidate (50%-100% time), and is based at the main SFU Burnaby campus with regular travel to SFU’s Surrey campus. Duties include recruiting, testing, and scheduling participants, supervising undergraduate Research Assistants, monitoring and ordering lab supplies, communications (e-mails, social media, website updates), and maintaining administrative records. This position also involves conducting research collaboratively with the PI, postdoc, staff, undergraduates, and graduate students. The lab manager may also have opportunities to co-author manuscripts, develop their own research projects, and attend conferences. This position is a two-year appointment, but likely extendable, and is ideal for those who wish for more experience before applying for graduate programs.

Candidates should have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Linguistics, Psychology, Communication Disorders, Cognitive Science, and/or a closely related field. Ideal candidates should also have previously worked with infants and/or children in an experimental research setting, have strong organizational skills, and an ability to take on challenges. References will only be contacted for short-listed candidates. Questions may be directed to Brigid Portner (brigidp@sfu.ca), Research & Projects Coordinator, SFU Linguistics, or the PI (henny_yeung@sfu.ca). This position has an annual full-time salary in the $42K-$46K range, depending on experience. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, but full consideration will be given to applications received by May 5th, 2023.
