Dr. Henny Yeung

Professor

Research Themes:  The Communicating Mind and Body

Dr. Yeung’s research investigates prosody and style in speech directed to infants and children by caregivers, as used in digital media, and produced using emerging speech technologies. He also works on how technology can be used in second language (L2) acquisition, as adults learn to listen and read in their L2, and with children learning multiple languages in heritage and immigrant contexts.

Finally, he also works on speech processing and learning throughout the lifespan, phonetic and phonological acquisition and processing, particularly in multimodal contexts and as influenced by speech production. Dr. Yeung is also a Researcher as the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) and the Université Paris Cité. He is director of the Language Learning and Development Lab (the LangDev Lab) at SFU.
