Research Themes: The Communicating Mind and Body
Deborah Giaschi is a Professor in the UBC Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, a scientist at the Child and Family Research Institute and the Director of Operations for the Child and Family Research Imaging Facility at BC Children’s Hospital. She also teaches undergraduate courses on Sensory Systems and Perceptual Processes in the Department of Psychology. She studies the typical and atypical development of visual perception with specific interests in dyslexia and amblyopia (lazy eye). She uses behavioural and neuroimaging techniques to understand the neural basis of these childhood problems to advance new methods of treatment.
