Thriving in Grad School panel

Open to graduate students only, this panel will explore how to thrive in graduate school, with panelists giving their experience and advice, and answering questions from the audience. Refreshments provided!
Our panelists are: Zhuo Sun, an LLED doctoral student, Caroline Running Wolf, an Anthropology doctoral student, Sylvia Chan, a SASS doctoral student, and Dr. Jennifer Abel, a UBC iSchool - Library, Archival & Information Studies Master of Library and Information Studies student and UBC Linguistics alumna who has also been on Jeopardy!
The panel questions will be:
1) What has been the best part of grad school for you? What has been the most difficult?
2) What strategies do you have for time management? How do you make sure you set aside sufficient time for writing?
3) What do you know now that you wish you had known at the beginning of your grad school journey?
4) What advice do you have for developing and maintaining a good relationship with your supervisor? Do you have any advice for navigating challenging relationships with supervisors?
5) How do you combat imposter syndrome?
6) What strategies do you have for taking care of your mental health during grad school?
7) What resources have you discovered (on campus, online, academic networks, etc) that have been particularly important to your ability to thrive in grad school?
Then, join us for a post-event social from 4.45pm at Koerner’s Pub to get to know each other in an informal setting. Please note: Language Sciences cannot provide food or drinks at the social.
